This blender is able to make crushed iced drinks in seconds with no bits of ice or frozen friuts found in the drinks. It has toggle speed and on/off switches that are easy even for wet fingers to operate. Best purchase (for the price) I have made in a long time. I use it daily.

This product may be fine for blending liquids; but the food processing functions are totally unacceptable. I donated it to a charity group once I realized it can’t perform the most basic tasks.

Hamilton Beach has made their cutter blades the same way for over twenty years - as far back as I can remember. And I’ve used a lot of them. Never had any problems with them. A couple years ago, they came out with the so-called “wave-action” cutter blade. The new cutter blades are a disaster - an example of how to take a perfectly good design and ruin it. What the wave-action blades do - is slosh everything around in the blender jar, creating a mess. It splashes all over the top cover lid. Not only that, but the new cutter blades leak around the bottom, where the round flat rubber seal goes. That’s another thing they changed. The rubber seal that sits below the cutter blades is less in width. Since I do a lot of blending, I have four blender jars and four of these new wave-action blades. All they do is create a mess inside the blender jar and are for more prone to leaking. I have to tighten the base far more than I ever had to in the past. And they still leak.

With all that in mind, I set out looking for some of the old-style blades. I finally found them - or so I thought. I ordered four of these old-style cutter blades. The photo shown on Amazon clearly shows the old style cutter blade. Ah, but everything is not as it seems. To put icing on the cake, Hamilton Beach has done something downright [...]. Get this - they show the old style blades on the front of the box, but are putting the new style blades inside. What’s shown on the box does not represent what’s inside. Update 3/20/07. I did eventually find the old-style cutter blades on Amazon. Do a search for “Hamilton Beach Commercial Bar Blender Blade”. I’ve ordered several of these and can verify these are like the old-style blades.

Please do not buy this blender unless you want to waste your money on a total piece of junk. I paid almost $40 for this thing. It seemed okay for the first couple of weeks, but then the cutting assembly became increasingly difficult to unscrew from the base. The cutting assembly is wide compared to other blenders. I have a hard time gripping it. The gasket is not very wide. Frequently I screw the cutting assembly on as tight as I can get it and the blender still leaks. After 3 or 4 times of spending an extra 10 minutes cleaning the floors and counters when all I wanted to do was make a smoothie, I have now learned to fill up the blender with a little water first in the sink and see if it leaks before putting anything else in it. I wrote to Hamilton Beach about my problems with this blender. They would not give me a refund on it but sent me a new cutting assembly because they thought something might be wrong with the threads on the old one. It didn’t help; the blender still leaks and is difficult to open. Bottom line: Don’t waste your money on this product. This is the only Hamilton Beach appliance I have ever bought and it will be the last.

Built in gasket does much better than the original and also better designed blade assembly mixes food at the bottom much better(no dead spots).

I had a Hamilton Beach Blender for a year and then the blade just froze up. I could not find one anyplace in town and they want as much for one oneline with the cost of shipping I could buy a new blender. I bought the new blender and now after a year the blade froze up. I so would not ever buy a Hamilton Beach ever ever again. What a waist.

This blender is very simple. Really not much to it. Takes up almost no space at all. I won’t say that the quality is good. I’m on my third one. The first one just had some mechanical failure and the blade siezed up on the lid. I wish I could’ve just purchased another lid with blade, but I never saw an option for that. HOWEVER, I stick with this blender because it’s the least messy, you can purchase extra cups with lids (pack of 2 for $10, I think), they’re dishwasher safe (put the cups in the top shelf, though), and they’re the perfect size for a protein shake. Why use a regular blender? You’d have to clean out that every time you use it and then also clean out whatever cup you pour it into as well. Gets the job done and keep the mess to a minimum.
