oster commercial blender Free Helpful Hint

I have used this mixer for three years to whip cream and to make medium thick milk shakes. It is very good. I got one cup with it and purchased two more that are too short to lock on for mixing, and must be held by me. I do turn the cups, even the one that fits the mixer, by just turning the cup as the mixer is running. For whipped cream I take the cup off once and stir with a spoon, but for shakes it does an excellent job. The cup that came with it is a 28-ounce size.

Well worth the extra money, the motor does not get hot after a minute-and-half like cheaper rivals.
Turn it on and off by turning the “head” to left or right.
Appears to be rugged and robust and likely to last a long time.

UPDATE, Feb. 2009: after about six months of light usage it died, it is a one star, avoid it……..

For many years, I have used a blender to make milkshakes. This is not the easiest way, so I decided to buy a unit similar to ones found in ice cream shops. I picked this unit because of the chrome finish–easier to keep clean. I am VERY happy with this item. I keep it on my kitchen counter ready to use. SO easy–just add ice cream, milk, flavoring and mix. The turn top for speed control is easy to use. It blends the ingredients quickly and easily. The container is easy to handle–I just wish the container held a little more. What a great buy!

Just like the milkshake mixers I knew in the fifties, only even more attractive. If you like milkshakes, and who doesn’t, this is an item you shouldn’t be without.

great for what my son-in-law needs for his protein shakes and malts.
    now my husband wants one.

this is my 3rd blender. i’ve had the cuisinart duet (bought that for my sister and gave mine to my mom) and hence i was blenderless for about a year. debated between the waring pro blender that everyone sees on foodtv, another cuisinart and the kitchenaid.
Both the cuisinart and kitchenaid are nice blenders, but they don’t crush ice as well as this one. The waring, as beautiful as it is, just is overpriced for what you get. there aren’t many things this oster can’t do. granted it’s only got 1 speed and pulse, but what do you really need?

i never found that i used all 21 speeds on my cuisinart anyways, and this definitely crushes ice better. plus it’s got the beautiful aesthetics of a matte finish and flat silver trim. my only wish is that the power cord were a tad longer. i love the fact that this has a square metal contact mount to the motor. all the others are plastic. not that i’ve ever had any of them break on me, but knowing that this is metal, gives me more confidence that this won’t fail due to the contact area.

if you get this blender, i’m sure you’ll be making a ton more smoothies as i know i will.

I was impressed with this product. when my other oster blender stopped working, i went to my favorite place to get a replacement. amazon did not only sale this product at a great price, i got it send to me free. best of the deal is when i used the blender to blend beans, i was pleased, it did make a really loud noisy and had air forcefully coming from the base, but it did the job well and i would recommend this blender to friends, i have just purchased it, but i pray it last because it does what it was meant to do well.

I bought this blender to crush ice in protein shakes based on all the glowing reviews. I thought the complaints about the noise were over reactions. Boy, was I wrong. The sound that this blender makes is horrendous! If it weren’t so much effort to send it back, I would have done so immediately after my first use. And, it really doesn’t do that great of a job crushing ice. The number of times you have to stop the motor, scrape the contents down so that they will continue to blend just isn’t worth it! Contents just can’t get over or around that air pocket that forms at the bottom of the jar. Far better to buy the Waring Pro electric ice crusher and use your old blender. I did and am much happier. If this is your first blender, try something that doesn’t come with an ear protector warning!

  • Killeen :

We have owned this blender for two years, and it has flawlessly blended my frozen fruit smoothies to a creamy delight.
Being vegans, we use the blender daily, for many types of foods. I honestly believe that I have hearing damage from this blender. It is so loud that when I run from the kitchen while it is blending and into the living room (there is a wall between the kitchen and the living room) my husband and I have to yell to be able to hear each other talk. This is not exaggeration or a joke. I am looking for a blender that is not so loud but works as well, and it is hard to know what to buy.

Before this we got a simple Beehive from Walmart with a two position rotary switch. Reviewers had whined about the noise, but it did good work. It would develop bubbles at the blades (sound and fury, doing not much) so it required a lot of tending. Unfortunately a spoon left in it caused the motor shaft to break where it’s designed to protect idiots from themselves. The model was discontinued everywhere. I settled for one of those programmed Oster blenders from Walmart that falsely advertised 600 watts. Much quieter. If you let it run long enough it does a pretty good job of grinding up the ice. By then it has also melted the ice a lot.

This one is louder than the Beehive described at the top of this review. It grinds the ice so good. It doesn’t develop bubbles at the blades. It doesn’t bob the slurry up and down. It gets the job done fast. It doesn’t melt the ice.
