Bought this blender on the Cooks Illustrated recommendation and it is a good blender with a solid glass jar. The rubber gasket between the jar and the blade is almost clear and I lost mine. Imagine my surprise when I found out that the $1.99 gasket would cost over $20 to replace! The Kalorik website only handles minimum of $10 orders so 6 gaskets are the minimum purchase. I decided on an additional blade ($9.99) and 2 gaskets. Shipping for that is $10.85. So it is costing me $24.82 for the $1.99 gasket.

Moral of the story - HOLD ONTO YOUR GASKET!

Maybe I should buy the 6 and sell the other 5 through Amazon. Hmmm.

The blade that came with my blender had locked up / rusted. This seems identical and works as expected.

I found this blender listed in Good Housekeeper’s archive for the best blenders. I have to say I completely agree with the rave. It does an awesome job with blending everything together without chunks. Also, the presentation of the blender is very classy as well!

I bought the one featured at Costko today, at fifty bucks. The model as stamped on the bottom of the base is BVCBO7-B. I made a smoothie with it, looked over the manual. The thing is, you cannot reverse the blade direction at will. The “pre-programmed” buttons (Frozen Drink and Food Chop) have a reverse direction phase in their cycles. The pre-programmed actions are finite and stop after some seconds, Frozen Drink cycle being 30 seconds. You can, of course, continue blending by pressing buttons. The BVCB07-B seems similar (basically identical except for the appearance of the base) to the Fusion and the other “Counterforms” blenders, but less expensive (at least at Costko, and I imagine that the BVCB07-B might be a Costko exclusive). The Fusion and Beehive (which is not a “Counterforms” blender in any sense other than having a 600 watt motor) are currently $60 at Wally.

The Counterforms blenders and the Fusion (all these are the ones featuring “reversible” action), have a 6 bladed cutting unit as opposed to the standard 4 blade unit that comes/came with all the other Oster blenders over the years. If you look over the box carefully you would think that there’s a means to reverse direction of the blade assembly, but there’s really no means of doing so. The blades go backward for only a split second several times during the pre-programmed Frozen Drink and Food Chop cycles, should you choose them by pressing either of their dedicated buttons. The function of this is clearly to dislodge jammed material. The 6 blade assembly is sharpened only on one side (all 6 blades), so reverse blending wouldn’t work (unless they sharpened the blades on both sides).

I bought the all black one. Costko also sells it in silver/black. The base is plastic, not metal. The Beehive appears to have a metal base except for the plastic at the top (which is said to break sometimes). The Costko display, which states the price and a resume of the features presents it as a “Counterforms” blender, however the word “Counterforms” does not appear on the box, the manual or the unit! From what I have seen, I’m inclined to think that it is essentially the same as the Fusion and the other Counterforms. I believe the motor, the electronics, the controls, the container are all the same.

So far I’ve made 3 smoothies and they came out fine. I don’t find it to be terribly loud, either. In fact it seems to be definitely quieter than the other two Oster blenders I’ve owned, a recent 450 watt 14 speed and a 20+ years ago bought 120 watt 10 speed.

I did a lot of research before buying this processor. When the first one came, the on switch didn’t work. I called Amazon customer service to explain the problem. They shipped a new one right out. GREAT customer service. I really like the food processor, including the mini bowl. It’s easy to use and works really well. I especially like the small shreds when using the grater blade.

BRAUN HAND BLENDER/CHOPPER

After owning a few cheaper units, I sprang for the Braun Hand Blender/Chopper and am very pleased with my choice. While I have mainly used mine for its easy blending-in-the-pot capabilities, I admit the chopper has equal merits, especially when you only need to chop a small quantity of ingredients.

I love being able to immerse the blade right in my soup pot to blend or puree soups and sauces without the mess of getting out my food processor or countertop blender. The blade does a quick job of pureeing and wash-up is a dream. I can’t imagine cooking without this handy device.

Highly recommended.

We spent a lot of money on this blender thinking that it would be worth it, but it was NOT. It leaked all the time, the rubber gasket got moldy (no matter how much we washed it), and eventually the leak corroded the outside bottom part of the unit and rusted the bottom part of the blade assembly. Because the unit is out of warranty Breville was no help. I emailed them and they referred me to their customer service number and warned me that it would be quite a long wait on hold. Gee, I wonder why. Don’t buy this blender it will self destruct right after the warranty is up. All of the positive review here are no doubt posted by happy Breville employees.

I purchased this blender when my Kitchenaid’s blender rubber clutch died. (Don’t get me started on THAT issue … another story.) I was hesitant to pay big bucks for a stinkin’ blender, but after killing off several “best on the market” products, I figured it was worth the money to have something with the power to do what I want to do (things a blender SHOULD do for heaven’s sake), and an eight-year warranty to boot.

My first thought after trying my new blender: whoa, this thing is LOUUUUUUDDDD!!!! My second: no way–it even grinds coffee?!!! I was impressed and wondered what it COULDN’T do. Would it clean my windows? Mow the lawn?

I tried a smoothy from rock hard frozen strawberries which would have put my Kitchenaid in the grave. It made the smoothest smoothie (not even a trace of a strawberry seed!) in seconds with no stopping and starting or having to shift the contents.

I remember how HEAVY and awkward my Kitchenaid was to lift and clean. The K-Tec jar is some kind of lightweight indestructible plastic (same as the ones you see at Starbucks) with the blade and metal parts permanently attached. There is nothing to take apart when cleaning, and the base is broader than other blenders so it is easy to get stuff out of it. The blade itself has only two arms (not four like most) which releases thicker foods easily.

After reading the manual, I am amazed at the capabilities of this thing beyond typical blender uses. I can also see that I will use it for more than smoothies and hummus. This one will stay out on the counter for sure.

And for you Kitchenaid owners who are frustrated with that rubber clutch thingie … this one doesn’t have one!

I bought this blender because Waring USED to be a good name. It appears that isn’t the case any more.

I purchased this blender specifically to make smoothies. I wanted a durable blender that would be able to crush ice. Before this one I had a cheap plastic one. The ice cracked the plastic so I figured I’d get a better quality one.

I had this blender for ONE month before the blade broke. Took it in for warranty…guess what? Blade is not covered under warranty! Now this blender is in the trash.

What a waste of money! Seems there are no quality products made anymore.
