Hamilton Beach has made their cutter blades the same way for over twenty years - as far back as I can remember. And I’ve used a lot of them. Never had any problems with them. A couple years ago, they came out with the so-called “wave-action” cutter blade. The new cutter blades are a disaster - an example of how to take a perfectly good design and ruin it. What the wave-action blades do - is slosh everything around in the blender jar, creating a mess. It splashes all over the top cover lid. Not only that, but the new cutter blades leak around the bottom, where the round flat rubber seal goes. That’s another thing they changed. The rubber seal that sits below the cutter blades is less in width. Since I do a lot of blending, I have four blender jars and four of these new wave-action blades. All they do is create a mess inside the blender jar and are for more prone to leaking. I have to tighten the base far more than I ever had to in the past. And they still leak.

With all that in mind, I set out looking for some of the old-style blades. I finally found them - or so I thought. I ordered four of these old-style cutter blades. The photo shown on Amazon clearly shows the old style cutter blade. Ah, but everything is not as it seems. To put icing on the cake, Hamilton Beach has done something downright [...]. Get this - they show the old style blades on the front of the box, but are putting the new style blades inside. What’s shown on the box does not represent what’s inside. The picture you see here on Amazon, does not represent what’s in the box. Look at the two photos I’ve uploaded that clearly shows this. [...]

Update 3/20/07. I did eventually find the old-style cutter blades on Amazon. Do a search for “Hamilton Beach Commercial Bar Blender Blade”. I’ve ordered several of these and can verify these are like the old-style blades.

I cannot tell you how happy I am with my kitchenaid commercial series bar blender. Man, this thing is getting better and better as I learn more about it.

I purchased this blender for my friend’s gym to replace his old Waring which simply wore out after thousands of shakes. It works fabulous making thick, frothy smoothies/protein shakes. His fill-in blender before was an expensive name brand and hands down, this blender works 1000% better. A great “pro” blender.

A friend bought a Vita Mix and we tried her and like it pretty well–but $400+?!?!? Then we came across a demo of the blendtec. I liked the contemporary angular look and more compact size. The sample recipes were terrific both hubby and I agreed. This too is $400+ but maybe we were in the mood we bought it. Once home we could see the power and useablity were quite a bit better than the Vitamix. I don’t care if it grinds golf clubs and hockey puts — actually this is a disturbing classless approach to getting people to pay attention to a machine that is truly incrediable. One complaint - I would like more receipes and more recipes toward particular diet needs like low-g diets. We love our machine and, by the way, borrowed our blendtec yesterday, she promises to bring it back today but she’s late. She made a smoothie breakfast for her family. Please dear friend—bring it back now. We use our machine daily - it is turning into a family pet.

I use my blender about 10 times per week, with frozen fruit and other items. I have had nothing but great results. I am extremely satisfied with this product. I can’t imagine that a weaker blender would put up with the abuse I give this one. I think 1 hp motor might actually be the perfect strength, but I know there is a more powerful model and since I haven’t used it, I left this one at four stars.

I bought my Oster in 1978, stainless steel. This is the first replacement part I have needed to purchase and it fits perfectly. Wish more things had the lasting power of my Oster Commercial Blender!

This WAS a great blender. Then, (like all the other stories) it went bad (the crack appeared, a design flaw) and then teh disapointment… No replacements … just the, “Sorry, you are out of luck. Thank you. Goodbye.”

Unless you like disappointment, I highly discourage buying any Villaware products.

I have used this mixer for three years to whip cream and to make medium thick milk shakes. It is very good. I got one cup with it and purchased two more that are too short to lock on for mixing, and must be held by me. I do turn the cups, even the one that fits the mixer, by just turning the cup as the mixer is running. For whipped cream I take the cup off once and stir with a spoon, but for shakes it does an excellent job. The cup that came with it is a 28-ounce size.
