I was disappointed when this mostly plastic appliance arrived. I was trying to replace a Kitchen Aid blender, that leaks all over the place.
There was something loose rolling around inside the base, so I decided that was an ominous sign of future problems, so I sent it back.
I don’t understand why there are so many different models of this blender. My advice is to buy the original Waring, not the “PRO”, or Classic. In my mind the “Classic” was never “plastic”.

The product was exactly as it was described. The only thing was the missing lid. Its hard to buy a lid separate, especially with the unique shape of the blender cup.

This is a great smoothie blender. it does a great job on the ice and makes a really smooth product. It is really loud but it definitely gets the job done. I would recommend taking it apart completely before cleaning because crud likes to get stuck under the blade.

Great for making smoothies (I always have some frozen bananas and other fruit in the freezer), but it doesn’t chop ice or large chunks very well. Although, it’s easier to store and have available than a blender. Works great for soups and purees. Make your homemade vinaigrette a true emulsion. I guess you could also make your own mayo, but I never had the desire.

I found out about this immersion blender from a vegan friend of mine who uses it for making hummus on the spot whenever company drops it. I’ve made hummus many times, and since haven’t used the store-bought stuff.

This is not good for making salsa, as it tends to liquefy the ingredients in short order.

This also comes with a chopper/grinder attachment that looks like a mini food processor, and it comes with a whisk attachment. Both of these are really more trouble than they’re worth, and you’re better off using a knife and a hand whisk.

Still, this is one of those tools I use nearly everyday for over a year now. And this is the second one I have. The first plastic beaker developed stress cracks and the markings rubbed off. Cuisinart replaced the whole set since they couldn’t have the beaker separately in stock, and it was still under the 3-year warranty.

Oster 6812-001 Core 16-Speed Blender with Glass Jar, Black

My husband is a runner and makes a protein shake every morning. So when I dropped blender last night while cleaning it I knew I had to have a replacement quick!:-) I read reviews last night and decided to hit the stores to “feel” some of the competitors. Fully intending to buy a Kitchen Aid blender, I finally decided on this one because of price and its features. We wanted a glass jar and something that wasn’t too ugly since it sits out on the counter. The metal gear is so easy to use. NO wiggling the jar to get it to “sit right”.

After bringing this home and testing it with the ice I am in love. I didn’t expect much and was fully ready to return to the store if I wasn’t happy. Just as the other reviews say this thing really crushes the ice QUICKLY and so evenly. It looked like a snow cone in there. I then quickly made myself a frappuccino and sat down to write this review. LOL

I highly recommend this blender. Great quality for the money.

This thing has got a lot of power, and as long as the bucket is big enough for your needs, it will do anything you need out of a food processor.

However, it is unbearably loud–so much so that I often change my recipe plans if it involves this tool. I mean, it is painful to be within 10 feet of it grinding some pesto.

Don’t buy this. Unless you have ear protection in your kitchen repertoire.

We’ve had this for a little over a year, and it’s been a so-so unit. It really doesn’t circulate the jar’s contents through the blades all that well, but that’s not why it’s in the trash today. The plastic ring at the bottom of the jar is a hassle. You have to turn the blender jar to lock it on the base, and then turn it the other way when you’re done. The problem is that it is very sticky, and not at all intuitive as to how it lines up with the slots on the four posts on the motor unit. And that makes it easy to unscrew the ring from the base, dumping the jar’s contents onto the base, counter, floor, … But that’s not why it’s in the trash today, either.

This morning was the last straw. I had the jar on the counter. Before I added anything, I made sure that it was properly assembled, gasket in correctly, screwed on tightly (hey, I’m no novice around blenders). I put in the ingredients for a killer protein shake, then added milk, and before I could put the milk back in the fridge, it was spreading from the bottom of the jar all over the counter and everywhere! It wasn’t even on the blender yet! The (thin plastic) jar apparently decided that this was a good time to crack from the blade to the handle.

Time to get me an Oster!!

My roommate moved out, along with her blender. I chose this as a replacement since it was on sale and touted the “wave action” design. The first problem was that this blender doesn’t do the best job of blending. The blades will just move whatever it is out of the way your blending and spin freely unless it’s babied with only a little bit of material at a time to start things off. The wave action does seem to work and helps for adding extra ingredients to smoothies. it is incredibly loud and hops about the countertop unless held down. The base heats up very quickly and I have no doubt this is what caused the motor to fail. This blender is a POS in nearly every way excpet that it is easy to take apart and clean. but what does it matter when it breaks after being used a few times.
